Kudos to Joe Scarborough, who opened "Morning Joe" this morning on MSNBC praising Don Imus and pointing out the good things the former host of the time slot has done for this country and its people.
Sir Cumspect and I disagree on Don Imus. But I couldn't put my disagreement into the proper context.
This morning I read an editorial In the WP saying that the Wall Street Journal is a national treasure and should be saved from the hands of Robert Murdoch. Then I thought of my difference with Sir Cumspect over Imus. Though I admire the Wall Street Journal for its news and business coverage I generally detest its editorials. They are mostly mean-spirited and ultra right-wing. So I avoid the WSJ. Well, I was thinking, that's how I think of Imus. Though he generally does good work, as Sir C. points out, I detest his editorial.
I have to give Joe credit for acknowledging Imus. I think that might be a clue that Imus is on his way back to his old spot on MSNBC. It's a known fact that none that have been on there, since the departure of Imus, are capable of filling Imus' shoes.
So he's a burley ole man, but he knows how to be generous from that great big ole heart he has. He doesn't claim to be the most couth creature on earth.
But look at those who do: Falwell, Robertson, GW Bush & BushCo, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly and the Fox Fanatics, Rush Limbaugh, et al.
Me, I'll take Imus anytime over that bunch from Barfville! Imus might not always get his humor correct, but he doesn't spread hatred over the airways.
A warm welcome to the naturally curious, the politically engaged and constant learners. I am a retired newspaper editor with a fickle foe, retinitis pigmentosa, or RP. While my sense of sight is waning, my "vision" is not, and, by God, I can still see my dreams!
