The winner of the Democratic debate last night from Hollywood was the Democratic Party. The debate was substantive, civil and dignified.
For last night, at least, Barack and Hillary were a dream team.
By cmparison the Republican debate the night before was, well, scary. John McCain, the GOP frontrunner, attacked Mitt Romney on Iraq by making Romney’s case for him. Surreal.
Feeling great about my party and ready for Super Tuesday!

It was an excellent debate last night. I think Hillary was crisper in her responses. She sounded more presidential. Also, what a great venue it was, in front of a lot of celebrities, movers and shakers.
It was a civil discussion. There was no debate. Frodo, on one side of one issue of a debate, wants government to recognize that "mandatory" and "universal" are words which are anathema to much of the American experience. Look at how much some Americans, some 60 years later, hate the idea of Social Security because it is universally applied. Frodo's disappointment, on this issue, is that the overwhelming majority of the electorate do not comprehend the differences between the candidates on this point. There will be, in Frodo's mind, few, if any, crossovers to vote Democratic if the perception is that we sponsor another program where Uncle Sugar knows better than the American people.
That's where a debate would've helped.
Then again, most people would've changed the channel after 15 minutes and watched "Without a Trace" re-runs.
The key word in my post is “winner” – winner in the sense that the Democratic Party has been so fortunate to have such an outstanding group of hopefuls.
Mr. Frodo is worried about terminology. I am worried that this country does not elect an anti-war president, and I’m afraid Obama will be perceived as anti-war. Remember, this is a country which re-elected George W. Bush. Obama’s spell is not universal. If he is the nominee, watch what the right-wing does with the moveon.org endorsement.
Frodo sounds a bit Republican when he mentioned "Uncle Sugar" and his derogatory reference to it knowing better than the American people.
Does Fodo perceive universal healthcare as an Uncle Sugar program? That's funny. Isn't healthcare an extreme Uncle Sugar program for the medical industry the way it is now.
This is one of the days I missed having a TV. But I heard of this meeting in the media. Now, this is one of the things I've been looking for: Do they adjust to circumstances and change? Are they running for office, or are they pounding some kind of personal pulpit?
Since I will vote as a Democrat, I hope to vote for someone who cannot only win but produce major changes in this country. It was an up thing to me to hear that they are putting their efforts into showing they are a world apart from the current administration. When the next president comes up against world powers, it will be real. Not rhetoric.
I do have to say that after thinking of your last post I remembered your wonderings about a "legacy", and I think I must say that I will remember GW as being a truly dispicable person. He more than did not speak to the people, but he thought such odd things were funny. After his father donated huge funds, and he was accepted at a university, and he declared at a graduation--even a c student can be president. He told the story of his brother pissing into the steam iron of a maid . . .His administration has taken us to a really amazingly low point. Just to get back on track again will be . . .what we deserve.
I may know where Frodo is coming from. Health insurance for all is something we all want, but mandatory is quite different. In MA, I beleive, it has already started--I don't know--but in CA the idea is not to everyone's liking. The mandatory thing makes the uninsured have to PAY for the health insurance they CANNOT afford or they will not have things like a drivers license. In OR we have health insurance for all but it is the better part of a thousand dollars a month. "Available" is a very very very different situation than "mandatory."
Why is the MSM sucking up to Obama and trying to kill Clinton's run? Follow the money. A Rupert Murdoch endorsement for Obama??? OMG@
For the record, what Frodo said was "There was no debate." It was not a debate, it was a discussion. Had the two participants DEBATED, they could have dealt with SUCH ISSUES as mandatory-versus-voluntary, one of the many issues which deeply divides the American public. Now, if the respondees whould like to begin such a debate, Frodo will be proud to take the Obama position and rip Senator Clinton a new one.
